A Welcome Visitor

Castle House Museum

Yesterday the Museum was very pleased to have a visit from a former Dunoon resident whose family has had connections with Dunoon for many years.

Kenneth Fraser, whose knowledge of Dunoon is exceptional, always has a story to tell. Not surprising as his father was Town Chamberlain for many years. His office was in the Burgh Hall and an etched window there still bears the legend TOWN CHAMBERLAIN for all to see as they pass. His link with Dunoon goes much further back than that, however.

Look no further for evidence than the attached picture which shows Kenneth with a portrait of his grandfather, who was Dunoon’s Superintendent of Police. This was done in 1911 to mark his retiral and is currently on display in the Museum.
